Great Job at State!

The Palouse girls made a good showing at State. The girls have worked really hard this season and all of the coaches are proud of their accomplishments. Also a big THANKS to our awesome parents. Below are the highlights and results for All-Around placings, individual event scores above a 9.0 and 1st-3rd award winners. AA scores with an * indicate All-State Award Winners

Level 5's take 4th place at State!
After hitting some nice routines we were pleasantly suprised to get 4th place at State! Marissa harding led the team with a 36.55 AA and we used all 4 of her scores. We had some great bar routines from Tori, Cheyenne, and Sydney. Kelsey was a beam savior winning beam in her age group. Sonya helped the team a bunch on Vault and bars. Way to go girls!

Level 8's Qualify for the All State Team and Regionals
Abby hit all 4 routines, qualified to regionals and ended up being one of the top level 8's in the state. Because of this she gets to represent Idaho in the State All Star competition at Regionals. Teams will be from Idaho, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii. Elizabeth had some adversity on beam, but didn't give up and finished strong on floor and vault and also qualified to the regional competition. Testimony to it's not over till it's over!

It's all about the memories...

So the team split for the weekend with the Compulsories and Level 7 gymnast Casey heading to Desert Gymnastics in Pasco and the Level 8's heading to Portland for the Rose City Challenge.

Coaches Elise and Kristy did a great job flying solo. I was judging the Desert Meet. It was difficult just sitting behind the table, not able to coach the girls, but I have also enjoyed getting back into judging scene.

Needless to say there were quite a few calls between the coaches giving updates as to how each group was doing. One call however, was not exactly what I expected. As you can see from the picture below, the crew heading to Portland ran out of gas! And yes, Mark was driving! He and Sarah had to run 2+ miles back to the gas station leaving Elizabeth, Abby and Jackie stranded on the side of the Interstate. They then hitched a ride from the gas station attendant on the way back. Something about the van only having 2 seats, a trip to the dump earlier in the day and walnuts flying on the dashboard is as much as I was able to understand between the laughter and the cell phone cutting out. It all turned out fine with the girls arriving to the meet site with 15 minutes to spare. Forget the competition and the scores, now that's a meet to remember!
